Great News!

October 4, 2009

The charity auction for the gorgeous bracelet kindly donated by Beady Pool sold for a great big £35! There were 9 separate bidders – a great big thank you to those who bid, and to those who publicised the auction too. And an even bigger thank you to Veryan for not only making the bracelet, but donating it as well. Thank you so much!

Race report in progress.. I haven’t forgotten!!

A bit of this and that, really!

First off, hello to all new recent readers! You are all very welcome here, thank you for taking the time to read this, and don’t be shy about commenting if you want to!!

Recent Sponsorship (my JustGiving Page here)

  • First off, a very big thank you to Julian, my father-in-law, for his huge sponsorship. Very, very much appreciated, thank you very, very much!

  • And thank you very much to Anne-Marie Benson for her very kind sponsorship, especially as she does not even know me directly! It’s extremely kind of you.

Me running the London Peace Run

  • Disappointed to have not yet received my official photos from Marathonfoto for the Adidas Women’s 5K Challenge. I would like to blame the postal strike, but really, who knows.
  • However, all is not lost. The great people over at 42run.com took four photos of me doing the London Peace Run, which I am very happy with! You can see one of them over to the right.
  • Recent training

  • Managed to run 10K with the double pushchair on Monday. Sadly not all in one go, although I did only stop twice (once for about 15 minutes at 4.3 miles when I picked my eldest up – it had been in single buggy configuration until then) and then again at 5.3 miles when I met up with Steve, and we had a very fast walk (Steve) very slow run (me) home for the remaining mile. Will attempt to run even further tomorrow. I have to say I DO NOT enjoy running with the pushchair at all, but I have little choice now the evenings are dark as I have no childcare during weekday daytimes.
  • Went swimming yesterday, now it is too dark to run in the evenings. Did 100 laps (2.5km/1.55mi) in 75 minutes. Was very unimpressed by the men there on their own who would do a lap or two, then stop for 5-10 minutes, and just *stare*. Ugh. No wonder they have a ladies evening, it’s a shame it’s not on a convenient evening for me.
  • Upcoming races

  • Well, I entered another 5K for Sunday, as I am determined to beat that 30 minute 5K record! This one is in Epsom, south London.
  • Got my running pack through for the Petts Wood 10K a week Sunday. My first ever 10K! And it is chip-timed too which is exciting. So that’ll be a race every weekend for 3 weeks (erk!)
  • Fundraising

  • The fundraising auction for the bracelet is still going well, up to £31 now. Just over 3 days left to bid, so don’t forget if you are planning on it!
  • As a reminder, both Veryan (who very kindly donated the bracelet, made by herself) of Beady Pool and Leanne of See the Woods and the Trees are offering 10% of all sales made to my fundraising target for the duration of the auction. Just use the word “MARATHON” on their PayPal pages or equivalent when ordering. There’s 3 days left for this as well.
  • And now I shall get back to my rest day!
