My Dramatic Pregnancies

Given the cause I am running for, and given it was my most recent pregnancy that devastated my fitness levels, it seems right to document my story so far as background to my challenge. It’s an unusual story, with a lot of drama and complications, and one I am happy to share with the world.

We started trying for children back in July of 2005, after we were married.

Aside from the year break since having my first baby, and since my second one was born, there has been Pregnancy Drama. Two confirmed first trimester losses, complications following one of them, and two babies. One of which by all rights should not be here were it not for some incredible odds-beating luck.. but it was odds-beating bad luck that caused the problems in the first place!

With many of these parts, the entries are mostly taken from journal entries I made at the time.

WARNING – some of these links contain scan images and newborn images, and there is [necessary] graphic medical detail in places.

  • My first loss
  • The birth of my first baby
  • The post-partum infection I had following her birth
  • My second, very drawn-out loss, that turned out to be twins
  • The drama that happened after the second loss
  • The drama in the early part of my pregnancy with my second baby
  • The Big Drama that landed me on strict bedrest for 4 months
  • The birth of my second baby

You can read all these in turn (makes for a better story that way, but warning – it is VERY long!) or choose the ones you want from the links to the right.

They’re all a good read (in my opinion of course!) and are hardly regular pregnancy stories, but if you’re really pressed for time and want to read about a miracle, I highly recommend reading about the Big Drama I had with my second baby.
